Goals

 

Players completing all 8 weeks of camp will likely become proficient in the following skills

 

Fundamentals

Dribbling

  • Crossover dribbles

  • Between the legs crossover

  • Behind the back

  • Ability to dribble 2 basketballs at the same time (stationary)

Shooting

  • Consistent layups with either hand on either side of the basket

  • Consistent ability to score around the basket and open shots

  • Consistent footwork on shots (pivots and hops) 

Athleticism

  • Improved athleticism, coordination, and balance

  • Quicker movements and footwork

Skills

Dribbling

  • Proficient use of change of direction dribbles (crossover, between the legs, behind the back, spin dribble)

  • Proficeint use of dribble fakes and hesitation (in and out dribble, float dribble)

  • Proficient ability to dribble 2 basketballs at the same time (stationary & change of direction)

Shooting

  • Ability to use multiple finishes around the basket (Layup, layback, reverse, scoop, off-foot, power layup, up & under)

  • Consistently shoot with good form and make open shots

  • Consistent footwork for shooting off the dribble or the catch and in various situations (Curl, pop, or flare off of a screen)

Athleticism

  • Improved athleticism, balance, and coordination of hands and feet

  • Quicker movements and footwork

Elite

Dribbling

  • Proficient use of pound, pocket, float, drag, and jolt dribbles

  • Use of jabs, dribbles, and footwork to control the ball and attack the defense

  • Use of dribble to score efficiently in the post

  • Use of dribble to set up scoring opportunities

Shooting

  • Ability to use efficient post moves in and around the basket

  • Understanding of “best” shot decision in given circumstances

  • Understanding of shot selection based on defense

Athleticism

  • Improved speed and explosiveness

  • Improved lateral quickness

  • Improved foot, hand-eye coordination
